Indian Rajya Sabha BJP MP and noted Malayalam cine actor Suresh Gopi will be one of the chief guests at the grand 4th Nair Sangamam 2018 in Chicago on August 10, 11 and 12.
The convention at the Hilton Chicago Oak Brook Hills Resort is expected to attract over 1000 Nair families from across the United States and Canada.
Nair Service Society of North America (NSSONA) President M.N.C. Nair said he hoped the event will bring the community together and help families bond with each other. There will be symposiums on many subjects revolving around the social, political and economic upllift of the community in Kerala along with a host of rich, traditional cultural programs.
A grand spectacle at the event will be the ‘Mass Thiruvathira’- the celebrated Onam dance by Nair women around a huge brass lamp to the lilting music of songs based mainly on Indian epics.
Another attraction will be a short film competition – open to all members of the Nair community across North America. The film must be in English or Malayalam, must be of 8 minutes duration (including titles and credits) and should have been made after January 2017). The organizing committee is also setting up a Nair Matrimony booth at the show ‘Holding Hands’ – a live platform for the younger generation to choose their own Miss/Mr Right. A site matriomony4nairs.com has been created for those interested to post their profiles.

NSS of North America (NSSONA) was formed on March 27th, 2010 in New York to connect Nair families in North America and other parts of the world. NBA President Gopinatha Kurup, NSS Washington DC Vice President Vijay Parameswaran, NSS Philadelphia President Gopalakrishnan Nair, NSS Delaware President Sivan Pillai, Aranmula Gopalakrishnan Nair from NSS Houston, Manmadhan Nair from NSS Dallas, NSS Canada President Sasidharan Nair lit the lamp to inaugurate NSSONA.
The Nair Service Society was established in Kerala in31 October 1914 by Bharat Kesri Mannath Padmanabhan Pillai.The NSS is a three-tier organisation with Karayogams (local organizations) at the base level, Taluk Unions at the intermediate level and a central headquarters operating from Perunna, Changanassery in Kerala.
